Week 4 preparations brought two very different injury outlooks Wednesday. Green Bay learned it would be without Jayden Reed for the rest of the season, while Washington’s Jayden Daniels returned to limited work in England with his availability still being evaluated.

Elsewhere, the Jets are managing Breece Hall’s quadriceps injury, the Giants have ended Odell Beckham Jr.’s return to New York, and Tennessee is replacing injured offensive linemen. A reported Kirk Herbstreit extension also puts the Thursday Night Football broadcast team in the news.

Green Bay must replace Reed’s receiving roles

Packers coach Matt LaFleur announced Wednesday that Jayden Reed will have neck surgery and miss the remainder of the 2026 season, according to reporting from The Athletic carried by NFL.com.

Reed was injured against the Jets in Week 2 and was taken off the field on a cart. LaFleur said he does not believe the injury will end the receiver’s career.

LaFleur outlined a shared approach to replacing Reed’s responsibilities. Christian Watson and Matthew Golden remain prominent receiving options, with Skyy Moore, Bo Melton and J. Michael Sturdivant also part of the group available to take on that work.

Daniels returns to the field as Washington prepares for Indianapolis

Daniels traveled to England with the Commanders Tuesday night and participated in Wednesday’s non-padded workout outside the team’s hotel. He wore a protective brace on his left elbow and was listed as a limited participant, according to The Athletic’s reporting published by NFL.com.

The quarterback dislocated that elbow in the Week 2 game against Dallas and missed Washington’s Week 3 victory over Seattle. Marcus Mariota started in his place.

Coach Dan Quinn planned to evaluate Daniels’ workload through Thursday and Friday before determining his status. Washington hosts Indianapolis at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, October 4, at 9:30 a.m. ET. Mariota remains the alternative if Daniels is unable to play.

Herbstreit’s reported extension keeps Amazon’s booth plans flexible

NBC Sports’ Mike Florio, citing The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand, reported Wednesday that Kirk Herbstreit and Amazon Prime Video agreed to an extension that would keep the analyst on Thursday Night Football beyond the 2026 season.

The reported agreement gives Amazon the ability to change analysts if it secures another candidate. Florio also noted the company’s earlier pursuit of Rams coach Sean McVay, placing the reported flexibility in the context of Amazon’s longer-term broadcast plans.

Hall’s injury complicates the Jets’ backfield plans

ESPN’s September 28 report, republished by TSN, described Breece Hall as week-to-week after he injured his right quadriceps against Detroit. Sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport about that outlook.

The report said Hall was unlikely to be ready for the Jets’ Sunday game against Chicago. Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis give New York other backfield options while Hall recovers.

Beckham’s second New York stint ends after three games

The Giants released Odell Beckham Jr. on Tuesday, September 29. NFL.com’s Kevin Patra, citing Next Gen Stats, reported that Beckham played 19 snaps across three games, received one target and finished the stint without a reception.

New York signed Braxton Berrios to its active roster as it moved on from Beckham, who had made the team’s initial 53-man roster in August.

Tennessee loses two guards before its Baltimore trip

Tennessee placed starting right guard Fernando Carmona Jr. and backup offensive lineman Jackson Slater on injured reserve Tuesday, ESPN reported. Both were hurt in the Titans’ 12–7 loss to the Giants.

Carmona injured his ankle, while Slater suffered a foot injury. The absences leave Tennessee adjusting its interior line ahead of Sunday’s road game against Baltimore.
