Editorial board methodology

Ballot points use only the four owner-supplied editorial lists: overall (41 − rank) × 3, frontcourt and backcourt (11 − rank) × 2 each, and freshman (26 − rank) × 1. The overall source list contains 40 teams; it is not a Top 25 source ranking. Completed, non-tied wins with numeric verified scores add opponent-tier points using the FIXED ballot-only preseason Top 25 (ranks 1–5: 25; 6–10: 20; 11–15: 15; 16–20: 10; 21–25: 5; outside the fixed Top 25: 2). No game can score more than once. Teams sort by ballot plus win points descending, then lower overall-list rank, then alphabetically. The ballot-only baseline remains fixed; it is never dynamically re-ranked for opponent tiers. A missing or failed schedule leaves winPoints null (provisional ballot-only board); an empty successful schedule is zero verified wins, not unavailable.

College basketball preseason: eligibility cases reshape plans as Pac-12 schedules arrive

Florida and Kansas respond to temporary eligibility rulings, St. John’s awaits relief for Keyshawn Hall, and Gonzaga and Colorado State map their first Pac-12 seasons.

College basketball’s preseason is taking shape in courtrooms as well as gyms. Temporary orders have opened playing opportunities for Denzel Aberdeen, Melvin Council Jr. and Tre White, while Keyshawn Hall is seeking relief of his own.

Wednesday also brought the first Pac-12 conference schedules for Gonzaga and Colorado State. Recruiting visits, injury recovery, a professional signing in Spain and November event tickets add to the decisions facing programs before the season begins.
