Brandon Miller Lands 5-Year, $209 Million Extension With Hornets
Charlotte Hornets forward Brandon Miller has agreed to a 5-year, $209 million rookie-scale contract extension, with the deal reported on Monday, October 19, ahead of the deadline for players from his draft class to sign new contracts. The agreement locks in the centerpiece of the Charlotte rebuild before the new season opens. Miller is entering his fourth season with the Hornets.
Miller was the second overall pick in the 2023 draft out of Alabama, and he turns 24 on November 22. He averaged 20.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 65 games last season. He shot 38.3 percent from 3-point range and made a career-high 204 shots from beyond the arc.
The money places Miller near the top of his draft class. Charlotte made Miller the main building piece when the club traded guard LaMelo Ball to the Minnesota Timberwolves during the offseason. Miller underwent shoulder surgery in May and has since recovered and appeared in the preseason for Charlotte. The Hornets open the season on Wednesday with a road game against the Brooklyn Nets.
